Auriga Microwave – Two New Patents

CHELMSFORD, Massachusetts, June 18, 2012

Auriga Microwave, a leading innovator in the design of high-powered RF and microwave devices announces today that the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office issued notices indicating that Auriga Microwave will be granted two patents covering novel amplifier circuit designs.

U.S. Patent Publication No. US-2011-0140784-A1, titled “Amplifier Circuit,” covers harmonic termination realized by coaxial baluns. This technology can be used to make power amplifiers highly efficient. The concept, demonstrated by Auriga in the 400 MHz 400 W amplifier, produced 60% power added efficiency. This technology may be applied to other frequency bands where coaxial baluns can be used to effectively convert an unbalanced signal to a balanced signal.

U.S. Patent Application No. 12/618,192, titled “RF Amplifier Modulation Circuit and Related Technique”, covers an improved technique for envelop tracking using a digital signal processor. This invention provides a practical and effective approach to envelope-tracking amplifiers, which are used to enhance the amplifier efficiency for high-data-rate communication waveforms.

Dr. Yusuke Tajima, Chief Technology Officer of Auriga, said “Our engineers are encouraged to push the limits of the technology and these are great examples of the many ways in which we are moving those limits forward.”

Auriga currently has seven other patent applications in process.
