How many meetings, sprinkled with “Wow!” would someone need to attend before concluding that Auriga is doing something special? After reaching that conclusion, the question left on the table is “Why?”

After all, the challenges we are confronting in HPA/LNA design are well known. Certainly, there are many smart, capable, experienced, well-funded, well-educated people trying to solve the same problems we’re solving at Auriga. So, why are we so often hearing, “Wow!”?

Yes, we have several patents pending as testimony to our innovativeness. Yes, Dr. Yusuke Tajima, our CTO, is world-renowned as a modeling guru and PA design wizard. Frankly, he’s one of the smartest technical people I have ever met. Yes, we’re fanatically committed to developing the very best behavioral models, down to the smallest detail, that will help us design and build our solutions. And, yes, we have some very smart people who complement Yusuke’s contributions.

That said, I think there is more, and that “more” is our environment. Specifically, I think there are 4 cultural reasons we achieve the Wow-factor. To be honest, I think it’s quite simple.

• We’re not afraid to fail. Unlike larger companies, where failure could be (perceived as) a career deterrent, our engineers are encouraged to push the limits. We take risks, shoot for challenging goals, etc., all without fear of reprisal. If we fail, which we do, but rarely, we determine the reasons, learn from them, move on, and are better off for the effort.
• We collaborate extremely well.  Group think, brain-storming, etc. are key to our development cycle. Who has the idea is unimportant in our pursuit of excellence – everyone wants to optimize performance and meet our goals.
• Creativity is encouraged
• Extraordinary, experienced leadership. Yusuke Tajima and Dave Wandrei, our Chief Scientist, are brilliant, and bring immense design, modeling and measurement experience to the table.
